Abbey CBS had local rivals St. Colmans to thank yesterday, as their victory over St. Pats Maghera meant that Abbey have secured a coveted quarter-final place. Earlier in the week, it looked certain that Jody Gormley's men would be facing the tricky prospect of a play-off. After a very strong start to the campaign, back-to-back defeats from Maghera and St. Marys left Abbey almost certain of finishing in the bottom 2. With St. Colmans and Abbey now on 4 points each and through to the quarter finals, and Maghera confined to a play off, the winners of the group has still to be decided as Omagh and St. Marys have yet to play. Defeat for St. Marys means that they will face a play-off, but on the other hand a win would see them top the group and advance to the Mc Cormack final.
