Abbey CBS 3-7 St. Colman's 1-8

Abbey CBS followed Monday’s shock victory over Omagh with a hard-fought win over Newry rivals St. Colman’s. They got off to a great start when half-forward Conal Gallagher grabbed a goal in the second minute. Points from Full-forward Brendan McKernan and centre-half forward Calum Cumiskey sent Abbey into an early 5-point lead. However, St. Colman’s began to grow into the game as the half progressed and a Dara Noonan goal cut Abbey’s lead. Points from Shane Lundy and Ryan Johnson for the College ensured that both sides would go into the break level at 1-4 apiece.

The second half started evenly, with both sides taking early scores. A goal from midfielder Rowan Turley, following up a shot which bounced off the crossbar, sent abbey into a 5 point lead. St. Colman’s hit back through a point from Patrick O’Hagan. Abbey then introduced Conor Martin from the sub bench, and the Dromintee man had an instant impact as he tapped home his own rebound after a great save from the College keeper. This sent Abbey on their way to a hard-fought 5 point victory.
