DANSKE BANK Corn Colmcille

Corn Colmcille Cup Final Match Report
August 29, 2012
St Mary’s Belfast 3-10 St Patrick’s, Keady 3-7
A strong second half showing from St Mary’s Belfast saw them avenge last year’s final defeat in yesterday’s BT Corn Cholmchille final in Lurgan.
They came back from a 6 points deficit at the break to take control of the game and go into a 5 points lead about 7 minutes from time. In the first half however they were pinned back into their defence by St Patrick’s Keady who found the net for three goals, 2 for full-forward Dylan Dynes and a Neil McGuinness penalty.
With St Mary’s CJ McKenna also finding the net, the interval score favoured Keady, 3-3 to 1-3. However CJ McKenna settled St Mary’s with 2 points on the re-start and, although they also hit a number of wides, Eoghan McCabe found the net in the 41st minute. Points from Kevin Bradley and McKenna (3) were followed by a goal from Barry O’Neill, a half-time sub for defender Ryan Hughes.
That put St Mary’s 5 points up and they saw the game out as Keady’s pressure only delivered points for Martin Carr and Dylan Dynes, although there was a late scare when Dynes’ goal-effort rebounded off a post.
