St Patrick’s Keady defeated by St Patrick’s Academy Dungannon
St Patrick’s Keady went up against St Patrick’s Academy Dungannon in there second casement cup game. Mr Mc Conville came to the game with a stronger than the last day as well as a game already under there belt.
Keady started the game slowly and failed to get score’s on the board till a Terence mc Kernan point in the 5th minute. Within moments Dungannon scored a goal which put the Keady defence under pressure. Dungannon scored another three points without reply. When Keady played low ball into the corners they began to create chances. Stephen Keenan scored a goal and a point to bring Keady within a point. A vulnerable Keady defence got taught out by the high ball leading to another goal by Dungannon. In last 15 minutes of the half Keady dominated but only failed to get point from Shea Gaffney and Stephen Keenan. Dungannon scored another goal putting them seven points ahead. Smart use of possession by Ethan Carville and Terence mc Kernan led to a Shea Gaffney goal before the end of the half. The teams went in at half time Dungannon 3-5, Keady 2-4. Keady dominated the possession but failed to convert there chances. The defence was still struggling to keep out the goals.
In the second half it took Keady a few moments to resettle in to the game and as a result conceded a fourth goal. Ethan Carville hard work paid off by scoring a point. Connor Mone played more of an influence in the second half, with a tidy first touch and more conviction got him on till the score sheet. Dungannon scored another three points to bring them eight points in front. Keady dominated in mid field as James King won vital puck-outs. Shea Gaffney scored a crucial goal and two points to bring Keady within touching distance of Dungannon. Uncertainty by the referee resulted a Dungannon goal been awarded as a point. Connor Mone broke through the Dungannon defence and got a fourth goal for Keady. James King put the team’s level before disastrous fifth Dungannon goal followed by a point. Shea Gaffney converted a free to put two between the teams. Some heroic defending by Nathan Green prevented a sixth Dungannon goal. Dungannon scored another two points to put 5 points between the teams. Connor Mone and Shea Gaffney shared four points between them in the dieing moments in a last hope to get a victory. The game ended Dungannon 5-12 (27) Keady 4-14 (26), the five Dungannon goals really punished Keady in the end as a score of 4-14 should really have beat any team. Keady may have to tighten up in the defence for there last league game against St Killian's Garron Tower as they have conceded nine goals in the last two games.
