The BT Herald Cup is taking on a distinctive Armagh look with 3 of the four semi-finalists coming from the Orchard county.
Two goals from Shane Carragher, the second a penalty 10 minutes from time, were enough to see St Joseph’s Crossmaglen over the line against St Patrick’s Downpatrick, 2-7 to 0-12. However there was a bit of a sweat near the end when 5 unanswered Downpatrick points at the death nearly reeled them in.
There was also a penalty goal for St Michael’s Lurgan in their 2-9 to 2-3 win over Patrician Carrickmacross. James McDaid stroked it home during the first half and added a second goal after the break.
Micheal McNamee scored the first goal in St Paul’s Bessbrook’s 2-10 to 2-8 victory over St Columb’s Derry to see them through to play the only “outsider” left, Rathmore Grammar.
Rathmore survived the derby fixture with St Mary’s CBGS with goals from Ryan McNulty, Brian Crossan and Fearghal Leydon to win 3-9 to 1-11.
The semi-finals have been postponed until Tuesday 8th November with the final on Saturday 12th.
