Keady win Kirk derby final

Tue 11th May 2010

BT Kirk Cup final :

St Patrick’s Keady       5-11     St Patrick’s Armagh     1-9

St Patrick’s Keady were convincing winners of the BT Kirk Cup yesterday afternoon in Madden, beating their Armagh namesakes by 5-11 to 1-9.

Armagh fought hard in the first half to keep Keady in check with Jack Lynch, Philip Duffy and Michael Carson always prominent.

However 2 goals from Richard Evans and 4 points from Shea Gaffney had Keady in command at the break by 2-4 to 0-5.

Armagh hit back within minutes of the re-start and a goal from Ciaran Donnelly and a Mattie Lennon point left the minimum between the sides.

However Keady suddenly stepped on the gas and Armagh were left floundering in their wake.  Two quick goals from Terence McKernan and Gaffney opened up a gap and Sean Colton’s 53rd minute goal killed off any hope Armagh had of a late rally.

Keady : Richard Evans 2-0, Shea Gaffney 1-9, Terence McKernan 1-0, Sean Colton 1-0, Kevin McArdle 0-1, David McCreesh 0-1.
