The district of Burren, lying halfway between Warrenpoint and Mayobridge consists of some twelve townlands and is part of the parish of Clonallon. The word Burren comes from the Irish ‘Boireann’, meaning a rocky or stony place.The Burren district is then a hilly area with the land on the poor side
